Description

India's Flag Size: The official flag of India is a rectangular-shaped flag with three colors in it. The colors included in this flag are India Saffron, India green and white and there is an Ashoka chakra (24-spoke wheel) in the center of the flag in navy blue color. This flag was proposed by Gandhi himself and later on, on the 22nd of July 1947, it became the national flag of India. As far as the size of the flag is concerned the width: height aspect ratio is 3:2. The three horizontal bands are equally sized. If the width of the flag is 6300 x 4200 then the diameter of the wheel will be 1295mm. Meaning: Mahatma Gandhi proposed this flag and as both Hindus and Muslims are living in the country so later on white color was also added to the flag to represent peace. The flag has three colors the saffron color represents the Hindus and the green represents the Muslims and the white color represents all the religious communities and also symbolizes peace between the two religions. The wheel in the center symbolizes Gandhi's goal of making Indians self-reliant. Later on to avoid sectarian associations the three bands present in the flag were reassigned new meanings like courage and sacrifice, truth and peace. History: In past, every state had its own flag and there was no flag of the country till the rebellion of 1857. After the rebellion, the idea of having a flag was raised by the British rulers of India. Later on, many flags were made till Mahatma Gandhi proposed a flag and it was finalized after some modifications. In 1947 this flag became official and it is the same till now. Interesting facts: Pingali Venkayya was a freedom fighter. He designed the official flag of India. One month Prior to India, getting autonomy from Britain, the flag was embraced as the national flag. The most interesting fact about this flag is that by the law this flag can only be made out of khadi. Mahatma Gandhi himself made this exceptional hand-turned cotton famous. This material is only made at a place in India known as Karnataka Khadi. This company is an authorized manufacturer and provider of the Indian flag. Citizens were not allowed to fly the Indian flag except Independence Day or Republic Day, before 2002. Later on, the court decided to dismiss this law. Supreme Court revised the flag law and gave freedom to raise the banner whenever of the year.
